Suppliers

We expect the majority of goods and services bought by the sector will be transacted via either GeM or eMarkets already owned by the Universities in the sector. Variously the content on GeM will also be made available to private eMarkets and eProcurement systems.

The business case for Suppliers is around low channel marketing costs, better cash flow, improved administration processes and the opportunity to compete in a true internal market that spends around £3.75bn pa on goods and services, which could transact through GeM.  We are advised that even those HEIs who have a private eMarket will look to buy some commodities through GeM.

The only suppliers, who will be allowed on the system, will be those who have a valid contract with the sector, for the supply of goods and services. To actively trade on the system, our supplier adoption team are here to help you get set up and help you to load your catalogues of information regarding your contract.

If you would like to trade on the system, you will need to be set up to allow for online payments via an eMerchant account. Our supplier adoption team will be happy to help you through this process.
